Newcastle United Predicted Lineup for Away Clash With Southampton

Newcastle United lineup

Newcastle United look to continue their fine run of form, which has seen them climb into the Premier League top four, when they travel to Southampton on November 6.

Newcastle United Predicted Lineup vs Southampton

How Newcastle Have Lined-up Recently

Eddie Howe’s side have largely been lining up in a 4-3-3 formation this season, which has allowed them to be defensively sound, whilst remaining dangerous in the attacking third.

In most games, Callum Wilson leads the line whilst a centre-back partnership of Sven Botman and Fabian Schar offers protection in front of Nick Pope’s goal.

Newcastle’s Recent Form and Tactics

The Magpies have enjoyed an excellent start to the Premier League campaign and have won four out of their last five matches in the league. Thrashings of Brentford and Aston Villa have been accompanied by an impressive 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur and a 0-0 draw against top-four rivals Manchester United.

Newcastle have often been happy to concede possession against stronger opposition, focusing on the quality of attacks rather than quantity. However, against weaker opposition, such as Aston Villa when they had 60 per cent possession, Eddie Howe’s men have been far more willing to play on the front foot – expect a similar approach in this game.

Newcastle Injuries to Consider

Speaking ahead of the game, Eddie Howe confirmed that Allan Saint-Maximin will be available for the game, whilst stating that despite the player returning to fitness, the club are planning to ease Jonjo Shelvey back into action in order to “see him through to the World Cup”.

However, Newcastle will still be without Emil Krafth, Alexander Isak and Matt Ritchie as the trio are yet to recover from their respective injuries.
