Revealed: 21-Year-Old Premier League Star Among Tottenham’s Five Major Centre-Back Targets

Tottenham Hotspur centre-back targets

One of the big aims of this summer transfer window for Tottenham Hotspur is signing a Premier League quality central defender to bulk up their defensive threat, with one such option being Crystal Palace man Marc Guehi. The 21-year-old could be a great signing, but like his fellow Spurs targets, would not be cheap.

A report from The Athletic sheds some light on their search, who their targets are, and what money they’ll need to spend to make it work.

Tottenham Hotspur Centre-Back Targets

Marc Guehi

One of the main targets for Tottenham Hotspur this summer is Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

The 21-year-old came through the ranks at Chelsea’s academy and after impressing on loan at Swansea was signed by Palace in 2021. He became an important player for the Eagles last season, playing 42 times for the team as they recorded a 12th-place finish in the league.

According to most reports, Tottenham will have to splash the cash if they want to sign the English defender

Alessandro Bastoni

Another target for Tottenham is Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni.

Former Inter boss Antonio Conte is keen to sign the defender but The Athletic have downplayed the chances of this move happening. Despite heavy interest from other teams, Bastoni is likely to stay with Inter Milan this summer.

Other Targets

With their main two centre-back targets unlikely to move this summer, Tottenham are having to look elsewhere.

Currently, they are linked with RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvariol, Newcastle United and AC Milan target Sven Botman, and highly south after Villarreal defender Pau Torres. With other major clubs circling around these players, Tottenham know they will have to spend big to get any of them through the door this summer, but this was the support promised to Antonio Conte when he secured Champions League football for the North London side.

Tottenham fans will have to strap in for a long summer ahead as the club looks to battle off its fellow top clubs in order to sign a high-quality defender.
