Tweet From Ultra-Reliable Journalist Suggests Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United Is Imminent

Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United

On an exciting day of news, the ultra-reliable Howard Nurse has published a tweet suggesting that the transfer of Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United could occur in the near future. As those who have been in the transfer rumours game for some time understand, the BBC journalist only tweets about a deal when it is imminent, and he has done just that.

Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United Could Be Imminent

A Hectic Day for the Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United Saga

It has been a hectic day in terms of rumours of the Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United saga.

Earlier on Friday, it was revealed by Laurie Whitwell of the Athletic that De Jong had come around to the idea of joining the Red Devils. This has previously been the biggest obstacle of the deal as, without the player’s willingness to move, there is no transfer. Even if the player were forced to move somewhat against their will, this could end in a rather expensive disaster, and thus it is vital that the Dutchman wants to make the switch.

After this, Fabrizio Romano claimed that United had made their first offer to Barcelona, consisting of an initial €60 million plus €10 million in extras. The Spanish giants rejected this bid, but discussions between the two parties are in full flow, with both hoping to find a deal that provides mutual benefit.

Now, Nurse’s tweet suggests that Erik ten Hag’s first signing could be just around the corner. He disputed Romano’s suggestion that an official bid had been made, but nonetheless when he gets involved in a transfer rumour it regularly comes true.

This would be a huge boost for the Manchester side. Securing a marquee signing while not in the Champions League shows that they maintain significant pulling power in the transfer market, and with De Jong’s ability he could revolutionise their midfield.
