AC Milan Interest in Italian Striker Continues to Grow

The AC Milan interest in Sassuolo striker Giacomo Raspadori is getting hotter. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Rossoneri entourage recently met with the player’s agents. An official offer hasn’t been made for the 22-year-old Italian striker just yet, as Milan have other concrete priorities, but the club is keeping tabs on the player.

AC Milan Interest in Giacomo Raspadori Increases After Meeting

A Growing Sensation

Raspadori made his Sassuolo Serie A debut as a 19-year-old prospect. Since then, he’s emerged as a primary striking option for the club, scoring 18 goals in 80 matches. This past season, Raspadori scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 36 league matches. He also started the majority of the matches, showing Sassuolo’s faith in him.

His play has not gone unrecognized, as Raspadori is also a newer member of the Italian National Team. To date, Raspadori holds three goals to his name in 11 caps.

He’s more of a second striker as opposed to a traditional striker. This interests Milan due to their likely deal for former Liverpool striker Divock Origi.

Raspadori plays the second striker role as he’s more of a technical/skillful player over a traditional poaching striker such as Olivier Giroud. Milan manager Stefano Pioli uses a 4-2-3-1 formation, meaning there’s an opening for a player like Raspadori directly behind Origi, should the Belgian complete his move. Brahim Diaz, on loan from Real Madrid, failed to make that position his this past season.

Milan are going to have to act fast, however. No offers have been made by them, but it’s likely Sassuolo will receive offers from other clubs in the near future.
