Netherlands manager Frank de Boer uses Dumfries tireless energy on the right flank of a  5-3-2 formation. The space afforded to Dumfries in this system is key to his scoring exploits. With space and freedom to rampage forward into, Dumfries is enjoying life at the Euros.

Speaking in a press conference after the game against Austria, Dumfries spoke regarding the tactical approach of de Boer: “I have just been playing my own game. In a different system than what I am used to, but a system that offers me an advantage. I get all the space I need to push forward and it has made me feel good.”
