These are the France vs Spain predicted lineups and recent team news for the World Cup Semi-Final between the two hot favourites to lift the trophy. With a defensively frail Argentina or England waiting in the final, the winner of this will be confident of holding the trophy aloft when the final is over so this is, for some, the real decider of the 2026 World Cup.
France vs Spain Predicted Lineups & Team News
France Team News
According to L’Equipe, the injury to Aurelien Tchouameni that kept him benched in the previous round has been dealt with enough that he’s expected to return to the starting lineup. Both William Saliba and Dayot Upamecano were absent from a training session after the Morocco match but it is expected that they’ll both be fit for the Spain match.
Spain Team News
Manager Luis de la Fuente has had one of the biggest stories of the tournament as he navigates star winger Nico Williams back to health. The Athletic Bilbao player has been restricted to just four cameos in the tournament so far, playing less than 70 minutes total. He got 11 minutes off the bench against Belgium to help him ease in but his match fitness remains a huge question mark.
The manager noted that both he and Victor Munoz trained well ahead of the Semi-Final which could hint at a bigger role to play but the winger may be used from the half instead of as a starter, much to the detriment of his nation.
