France vs Spain World cup semifinal

France vs Spain Confirmed Lineups and Team News

Last Word on Football brings you the confirmed lineups and the latest team news ahead of the France vs Spain World Cup semifinal at the Dallas Stadium. This game sees one of the best attacks in the world take on one of the best defences.

The French may begin the game as slight favourites due to their superior firepower, but never rule out the Spanish and their form over the past two years, winning 27 and drawing nine, is their longest ever unbeaten run. They have also conceded just one goal in six games, so for this World Cup, however, they face a team that has scored 16 goals in their six games so far.

France Team News

Aurelien Tchouameni is expected to be declared fit and resume his place in the starting lineup following an injury that kept him out of the starting XI against Morocco in the quarter-final.

William Saliba and Dayot Upamecano both missed training following the win over Morocco, but both are expected to be fit to start against Spain today.

There have also been doubts over Kylian Mbappe after he limped off in the quarter-final. However, Didier Deschamps insists that his star man is fully fit. He said: “Kylian (Mbappé) is doing well. He is at 100 per cent. We can’t go beyond 100. He is at 100 per cent.”

Spain Team News

Star winger Nico Williams is still being nursed back to full fitness, and he’ll be hoping to get more than the 11 minutes he got from the bench against Belgium in the last round. However, having only played a total of 70 minutes so far in this tournament, it is unlikely that manager Luis de la Fuente will risk him and only use the Bilbao player should it be necessary.
