Harry Kane to Manchester City Move Could Happen if Erling Haaland Bid Fails

A Harry Kane to Manchester City move could happen this summer, but only if the Citizens’ bid to sign Erling Haaland fails, according to Paul Hirst of the Times.

Tottenham Hotspur Would Be Reluctant to Let Kane Go

Tottenham Hotspur would be extremely reluctant to let their star man go, regardless of the transfer fee.

Kane has been a Spurs player for his entire career, accumulating 215 goals in 327 appearances, and cementing his place as a club legend. He has led them to a Champions League final and multiple Premier League title races, but has never won a trophy during his time in North London. This is the main reason why rumours surrounding his future have sparked, with a player of his calibre certainly qualified to play in a more successful side.

Kane’s talent is undeniable, and he is certainly someone who City will have been watching over the last few years. A fantastic striker in his own right, the 27-year-old would fit perfectly into the Citizens’ attack, with plenty of world-class players to provide for him. And, with Sergio Aguero leaving at the end of the season, Kane would be a fantastic replacement, entering his career’s prime years.

The London-born striker would not come cheap, however, with over three years remaining on his contract and many more left at the top of the game. Football pundit Tony Cottee predicted last year that he would be worth £200 million.

Haaland Still First Choice

Erling Haaland is still Manchester City‘s first choice this summer, despite Kane’s unquestionable quality.

The Norwegian striker has been impeccable for Borussia Dortmund this season, and is arguably the most exciting young player in the game. Every top side in Europe would love to have him, but many won’t be able to fund such a transfer.

The likes of Manchester United and Chelsea are reported to be interested in Haaland, but due to finances and current success, City may be his most likely destination should he leave Germany this summer.
