Where Will Erling Haaland Go This Summer?

Erling Haaland

After his show against Sevilla on February 17, there are few doubts that Erling Haaland is destined for greatness. The Borussia Dortmund player is bringing an excitement to the Bundesliga that has not been seen in a player for a long time. He is scoring an average of a goal per match, appearing for Borussia in 41 appearances and notched 42 past the goalpost in them.

Haaland’s performance in the Champions League has been nothing short of phenomenal. He has achieved five, ten and 15 goals respectively in the shortest time for any player in the league’s history. With the victory in Seville, he raised his mark to 18 goals – coming in just 13 appearances. No other player has scored so many goals in so short a time like this 20-year-old. He has become a favourite of sports betting fans in Anytime Goalscorer bets. We recommend www.newbettingsites.uk for the latest and best odds and promotions for your predictions.

Where Could Erling Haaland Go This Summer?

Early Beginnings

Interestingly, the Norwegian was born in Leeds in 2000. His parents came from Bryne. Haaland started playing in the football academy at five. His journey started in his hometown club, Bryne FK’s youth club. He started paying for the main club in the 2015/2016 season. He scored 18 goals in 14 matches while in the reserve team.

Haaland made his debut for Molde FK in the 2017/2018 season and scored a goal in his first appearance against Volda TI. His league debut was against Sarpsborg 08. He was booked after only 65 seconds but scored in the 77th minute. Haaland’s scoring prowess first showed when he scored four goals in 21 minutes, playing against SK Brann. Haaland’s form was prolific, scoring 18 goals in 32 games. His performance earned him the Eliteserien Breakthrough of the Year Award for the 2018 season.

Haaland signed for Red Bull Salzburg in August 2018 and joined the club in January 2019. He quickly made his mark with a string of hat tricks against Parndorf, Wolfsberger and Hartberg. He scored 11 goals in 7 appearances.

Erling Haaland’s quality showed in his 2019/20 UEFA Champions League debut against Genk when he scored yet another hat-trick to hand the Belgians a 6-2 defeat. He later scored a goal against Liverpool and two goals against Napoli to make six goals in three appearances. His goal in the return match against Napoli made him the youngest player to score in all four match appearances. His goal against Genk saw him join the likes of Neymar, Ronaldo and Del Piero in scoring in five consecutive UEFA appearances.

Move to Borussia

Haaland’s transfer to Borussia Dortmund was rumoured to be worth $27 million (€20 million). The young striker quickly proved his worth with a hat trick against Augsburg in his debut. He quickly became the goal-scoring machine the Bundesliga has not seen in a long time. He has scored in each match, earning him the Bundesliga Player of the Month twice. His current form is the most impressive of any Bundesliga player.

Where Next for Erling Haaland?

Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, announced the teenager was leaving Borussia Dortmund this summer, but there is a €63 million release clause. The stampede for the young talent has already begun.

Manchester United’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a head start since he worked with Haaland before at Molde. He already regrets not having grabbed the teenager in 2018, and letting him go to Dortmund for a measly €17 million. United apparently refused to sign him because Raiola wanted his fee included in the contract. Now it will cost even more, and the rumors are they are prepared to pay.

Chelsea fans are also rumoured to be pressuring their club to make a move for the teenager. The €63 million would be affordable for many clubs in normal times, but the COVID-19 pandemic has hit many clubs hard in the wallet. Chelsea’s big pockets make it an exception.

Manchester City could also be eyeing the player, seeing as it is that Sergio Aguero’s contract is coming to a close. They would like a striker to offer a better assurance than Gabriel Jesus’ disappointing record. Haaland would also fit well into Pep’s attacking philosophy, which has seen the EPL side dominate their rivals.

Liverpool might also be an interested party. The Reds could make room for a striker to replace Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane. Erling Haaland would also be a good fit for the Reds’ attacking style with his incredible speed and dominant play.

Football fans can be sure they will hear more of this young talented striker’s transfer news. They are listening and watching closely.
