Is TNA Bound For Glory Meant to Become a NXT vs TNA Show, With All TNA Titles on The Line?

Since TNA Victory Road last Friday and WWE No Mercy last Saturday, the TNA/NXT partnership has taken an interesting twist. The friendly competition between the two brands turned into a cold war. TNA’s invasion of NXT last Tuesday led to an upcoming event called NXT Invasion on October 7. As of writing, which means a French cold Tuesday night, the members of the two TNA teams have not been announced yet.

Five days after NXT Invasion, TNA presents its biggest event of the year, Bound For Glory. With two TNA titles already in NXT’s hands, another TNA title on the line and up for grabs for an NXT talent, and the Hardys facing DarkState in a Winner Take All match at NXT Invasion, it’s easy to think Bound For Glory could become a TNA vs NXT event for all the TNA titles. With all the consequences it could represent for TNA.

What We Know So Far

TNA Wrestling currently has six Championships, with two yet in NXT’s hands. At NXT Battleground, Trick Williams defeated Joe Hendry to become the first NXT wrestler to hold the TNA World Championship. It was the first time a TNA title was on the line in a WWE event.

On the September 4 episode of TNA iMPACT, the TNA Director of Authority, Santino Marella, made official the main event of Bound For Glory. Mike Santana and Trick Williams will meet one-on-one with the TNA World Title up for grabs. After TNA Slammiversary, Williams would attempt legal action in hopes of avoiding another match with Santana, but was unsuccessful. Will Santana complete his Path of Purpose and bring home the TNA World Championship? Or will the Trick-NA era continue?

At TNA Victory Road, Ash by Elegance announced she was retiring from in-ring competition and forfeited the title. This led to a 10-Knockout Battle Royal, where the final two competitors would face off later in the night for the vacant Knockouts World Title. In the end, it came down to Léi Ying Lee and NXT’s Kelani Jordan.

With the #1 contender, Indi Hartwell, as special guest referee, Kelani Jordan triumphed over Léi Ying Lee to become the new TNA Knockouts World Champion. As Hartwell hasn’t lost her right to a Championship match, she will face Kelani Jordan at TNA Bound for Glory.

The Most Recent Surprises

The X-Division Championship will be on the line at TNA Bound For Glory in a Dream match. At Victory Road, Leon Slater outlasted Myron Reed to retain the title in a breathtaking main event. Then, TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella revealed Slater’s next challenger at Bound For Glory: NXT’s Je’Von Evans. Evans would appear on the big screen to address this dream match between two of the most exciting and promising young stars in professional wrestling today.

The fate of the TNA World Tag Team Championship will have two steps. Since TNA Slammiversary, we know that Team 3D (D-Von and Bubba Ray) will face the Hardys one last time. On iMPACT, the final negotiation between the teams led to The Hardys and Team 3D upping the ante.

This bout will now be a Tables Match with The Hardys’ TNA World Tag Team Championship on the line. If Jeff and Matt Hardy were winning the NXT Tag Team titles at NXT Invasion, no word on whether the belts would be on the line. If the Hardys were failing, all the previous announcements coming from the final negotiation would fall apart.

The What and Who for the Other Titles

Frankie Kazarian is the TNA International Champion. He defeated Steve Maclin at TNA Victory Road last week. Unless Maclin invokes his rematch at Bound for Glory, there could be a spot for an NXT guy. The TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship will be defended on iMPACT this Thursday between The Elegance Brand and The IInspiration. Once again, we can imagine a rematch clause that the losing team could invoke.

As TNA Wrestling taped the next two episodes, we know what will happen until Bound For Glory. A match for the Knockouts Tag Team title is set. That doesn’t mean it couldn’t change. There are a lot of choices in NXT. Tatum Paxley and Izzy Dame, Jacy Jayne and Fallon Henley, Sol Ruca and Zaria are just a few examples.

When it comes to Frankie Kazarian, everything is possible, from the TNA or NXT roster. Nothing has been announced yet. That’s the reason why the NXT Invasion team announcement will be pivotal. His opponent may hide in the Invasion’s NXT Team. We know that Myles Borne already volunteered to be a part of Team NXT, but will he qualify?

In fact, to know if TNA Bound For Glory ends up being an NXT vs TNA show, with all the titles on the line, the answer is not yet. We’ll have to watch NXT and TNA iMPACT this week, then NXT Invasion and TNA iMPACT next week to know exactly if it will happen, or not.
