West Ham United have made a solid start to the 2023/24 season and maintained their place in the top half of the table, but they could seemingly be looking to improve their striking options. That is why the Hammers appear to be eyeing the signing of Hugo Ekitike in the upcoming January transfer window.

West Ham Face Competition for Hugo Ekitike Transfer

The Evening Standard’s Dom Smith states that West Ham are keen on signing PSG striker Ekitike in the upcoming winter transfer window – but face competition from Crystal Palace for his signature. It’s also mentioned that the French heavyweights would be willing to loan out the 21-year-old striker or sell him for the right price.

Smith states that the Hammers are now in the market for a new striker as their current options, Michail Antonio and Danny Ings, are no longer trusted to supply goals for them regularly. Ekitike was a transfer target for both West Ham and Crystal Palace in the summer window, but neither club could complete the deal. The report also adds that Newcastle United’s links to the striker are off the mark.

The 21-year-old is actually a promising young forward who has been hailed as “very special,” having impressed for Stade Reims in the past. The Frenchman is a natural centre-forward and can slot into a left-wing role if needed. He is a pacey forward whose movement in the final third is also impressive. Ekitike has scored 24 goals in 87 appearances in his career and could potentially be a smart signing for West Ham.
