A move of this magnitude would seemingly cause irreparable damage, but Worrall and McKenna are “expected to leave the club in the January transfer window.” Forest have yet to release a club statement explaining their decision as Cooper and his players prepare for Saturday’s top-flight fixture at Wolves.

 Cooper on His Way Out

Separating the pair from the rest of the squad is not the only trouble plaguing Forest. Due to the recent dip in form, many expect Cooper to lose his job in the coming weeks. Paul Taylor of The Athletic noted that Forest fans who travelled to see the club thrashed 5-0 by Fulham were chanting his name “as loudly as ever.”

This was not a chant of displeasure – but rather a farewell to the manager who guided them to promotion. The search for a replacement is ongoing, and Cooper remains the touchline leader for the Tricky Trees until then. But in the meantime, the boss will have to manage the Worrall and McKenna situation as delicately as possible.
