‘One to Watch’: Crystal Palace Given Huge Boost for ‘Special’ Striker Before Transfer Deadline

Crystal Palace have left it quite late in the summer transfer window when it comes to improving their frontline and appear to be plotting a very late move for a new striker in the shape of PSG’s Hugo Ekitike.

One Deal Ekitike Transfer Could Depend On

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Crystal Palace are still working on a possible deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Hugo Ekitike to improve their frontline options.

He further states that the Eagles’ possible move for the 21-year-old is “one to watch in the final hours” of the summer transfer window and that we have to wait and watch if they can get a deal finalised for the young forward.

This could depend on PSG’s efforts to sign France striker Randal Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt on deadline day. The French giants have reportedly struck an agreement with the Bundesliga side for the signing of Muani and adding a quality striker could convince them to offload their young forward in the summer. However, it remains to be seen if the Premier League club are able to agree the deal and get it over the line before the summer window ends.

What Could Ekitike Bring to Palace?

A graduate from the Ligue 1 club Stade Reims’ youth academy, the 21-year-old striker initially joined PSG on loan last season before being signed on a permanent basis earlier this summer.

He has made 34 appearances for the French giants so far, scoring four goals and providing as many assists in those appearances. The 21-year-old is a natural centre-forward who can even play in the left wing if needed, but operates best moving through the central positions.

He could be a solid competition for Odsonne Edouard up front at Palace if they are able to sign him, having contributed 28 goals (20 goals, eight assists) in the 58 professional games played as a centre-forward. The Frenchman was hailed as “very special” last year, but it remains to be seen if he’s playing at Selhurst Park later this season.
