Crystal Palace in the Driving Seat to Sign ‘Integral’ Goalkeeper

Hat-Trick Hero Set To Start: Crystal Palace Predicted Lineup vs Wolverhampton Wanderers - Predicted Lineup

Crystal Palace are now leading the race to sign one of the Premier League’s most coveted goalkeepers. According to Fabrizio Romano, Palace have surpassed Nottingham Forest as the favourites to land the sought-after goalkeeper, as he remains expected to depart Manchester United. He has been described as “integral” to previous sides.

Crystal Palace Could Land Dean Henderson this Summer

Negotiations Ongoing

The Italian journalist noted that the negotiations between both the 26-year-old and the two clubs involved were still ongoing. United and Palace will have to accelerate their talks on a Henderson deal if they are to complete this transfer before the end of the summer window.

Palace’s Competitors

Being a man of many loans, the English goalkeeper has attracted interest from other clubs, including those he has previously played for. Forest are one of those teams, as Henderson spent last season making 18 appearances with them. However, the Tricky Trees are coming to the painful realisation that Henderson will likely elude them.

Another domestic competitor that has been linked to the English national team keeper is Tottenham Hotspur. Originally the interest from the North London club came before their signing of now-starter Guglielmo Vicario. Spurs need a strong number two, as Hugo Lloris has expressed his intention to leave the club, and Henderson could end up splitting time with Vicario.

Henderson Wants Playing Time

One of the biggest motivators in Henderson’s United departure is his desire to take to the pitch on a consistent basis. Unable to successfully break into the Red Devils squad, a move away is the best chance for him to grow his career, and Erik ten Hag’s club have come to accept this. Two years at Sheffield United made Henderson appreciate how much he wants to play, and not sit on the bench for another campaign.

Palace the Only Destination?

A move to the Eagles looks to be the best move that all parties can make. Palace will want a strong player in between the posts, Henderson can gain more Premier League experience, and United could free some salary space with another player off the books.

BBC Sport additionally reported that if the transfer is sealed, “It is believed Henderson’s move to Palace would be a loan with an obligation to buy”. A proven backup, the Englishman could become a star at Selhurst Park if he is able to keep the Eagles in the top flight for years to come.
