Manchester United Prepare New Offer for Lecce Defender Patrick Dorgu
How Much Will United Have to Pay for Dorgu?
Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Red Devils are now preparing to make a new proposal to Lecce for the signing of the 20-year-old wingback. This comes after United’s £22.8 million opening bid for the Denmark international was turned down by the Serie A side.

It’s added that Manchester United will now look to advance with their talks, with Lecce holding out for around £33.7 million to sell their prized defender. Romano states that Dorgu is personally “keen on the move” to Old Trafford and that there will be “no issues on potential contract” if the two clubs can strike an agreement. With the injury-prone nature of Luke Shaw and the unreliability of Tyrell Malacia, Ruben Amorim has been forced to play Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui at left wingback who have both struggled with the role.
What Is The Deadline for United to Sign a New Wing-Back?
The Red Devils need to pick up the pace to sign a new wing-back as they head into the final stretch of the winter transfer window. The transfer window will close on 3 February at 23:00 GMT, meaning that the Premier League side have less than two weeks remaining to finalize any transfers to strengthen the squad for the second half of the 2024/25 season.

Dorgu would be a solid acquisition for Manchester United after impressing for Lecce in Serie A. Even though he’s naturally a left wingback, Dorgu can also play on the right and has even played further forward this season. The 20-year-old has three goals and one assist in 20 Serie A appearances so far this season, with Lecce’s sporting director recently hinting at their desire to keep him for the entirety of the season. That is why United have to be quick if they want to sign the versatile wingback, who was hailed as “incredible” earlier this season and can add some much-needed energy to Amorim’s side.
