Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Rangers

Manchester United’s hopes of a new dawn in their season came spectacularly crashing down to earth on Sunday, a meek Red Devils sinking to a 3-1 home defeat against Fabian Hurzeler’s Brighton side. This Thursday, January 23, Ruben Amorim’s side will look to put things right against Glasgow Rangers, who themselves sit far behind their rivals (Celtic) domestically. Here is your Manchester United predicted lineup for the Europa League tie.

How Manchester United Have Lined-up Recently

Since Amorim’s arrival in November, Manchester United have switched to a 3-4-2-1 formation, with André Onana the number-one choice goalkeeper.

Matthijs de Ligt and Lény Yoro are regular starters in the three-man defence, with Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez competing for the other spot in recent fixtures.

Noussair Mazraoui, Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot have rotated at wing-back, with Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte becoming the go-to pairing in centre midfield. Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho have rotated in the attacking midfield positions, with Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund doing the same at centre-forward.

Manchester United Recent Form and Tactics

After an uptick in form that saw United go unbeaten against Liverpool and Southampton in the league and Arsenal in the FA Cup, the defeat to Brighton last weekend plummeted the mood amongst the fanbase yet again, with the Red Devils dropping to 13th position in the league. Despite the optimism surrounding the new manager, the players look unfamiliar with his new tactical setup and it will take time for the Portuguese coach to implement his philosophy, surely to the detriment of a good number of players who haven’t been at the required level for several years.
