Davey Boy Smith Jr. Announced for GCW Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 3

Davey Boy Smith Jr. Bloodsport 3

Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 3 has just been injected with a dose of legacy. Recently, Game Changer Wrestling announced that, at this event, Davey Boy Smith Jr. would be competing. This marks the third Bloodsport appearance for the generational wrestling star. Further information regarding the event will be detailed below.

It’s not uncommon for wrestlers to begin training early, but Davey Boy Smith Jr. started wrestling as early as eight years old. He was trained by his father, Davey Boy Smith aka The British Bulldog, and his uncle, Stu Hart. Prior to joining WWE, the young Smith worked for Stampede Wrestling. It was here he began teaming with TJ Wilson, the future Tyson Kidd, prior to their WWE days. By 2006, Smith had signed a deal with the aforementioned promotion.

In terms of his WWE work, Smith may best be known for his time with The Hart Dynasty. Then known as David Hart Smith, he teamed with Kidd and real-life cousin Natalya, forming the group in question. Together, Smith and Kidd became two-time Tag Team Champions in WWE, working with the likes of Cryme Tyme and The Usos. In late 2010, however, Smith and Kidd would end their on-screen partnership. The year after, Smith was released from WWE.

From there, Smith began to work for various promotions, nationally and abroad. He achieved international fame in Japan, working for Pro Wrestling NOAH and New Japan Pro Wrestling alike. Smith became a member of the Suzuki-gun stable, regularly teaming with current AEW star Lance Archer. Together, Smith and Archer won NOAH’s GHC Tag Team Championship twice and NJPW’s IWPG Tag Team Championship thrice. Smith’s work as a singles star in Japan couldn’t be ignored, as evidenced by his involvement in NJPW’s G1 Climax and New Japan Cup tournaments throughout the years.

Most recently, Smith can be found working in Major League Wrestling, where he debuted in 2018. Alongside Brian Pillman Jr. and Teddy Hart, they formed the cocky New Era Hart Foundation. The confident stable saw success in MLW, most specifically the promotion’s World Tag Team Championship. In 2019, MLW renewed the Opera Cup, which was a yearly tournament that ceased in 1948. MLW brought the tournament back, featuring its own talent. Smith did his family legacy proud, besting Low Ki, Alexander Hammerstone, and Pillman Jr. to win the Opera Cup.

As stated earlier, Davey Boy Smith Jr. is no stranger to Bloodsport. He took part in the first Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport in April of last year, where he submitted Killer Kross, now known as Karrion Kross in WWE. The following September, at the second Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport, Smith earned another submission victory, this time over fellow MLW star “Filthy” Tom Lawlor. Needless to say, “The Canadian Bulldog” will be one to keep an eye on in Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 3.

GCW Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 3 will take place at Marion County Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana, on October 11th, 2020. For those that are unable to attend live, Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport will air live on FITE.tv; further details can be found below. GCW Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 3 is part of a larger project known as The Collective.
