D-Generation X
D-Generation X is widely considered by many as the most iconic faction in WWE history. They became widely popular due to their antics, catchphrases, and shocking moments, which led to massive merchandise sales, pop culture relevance, and title success. The founding members of this group included Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Chyna, and Rick Rude, later recruiting X-Pac, Road Dogg, and Billy Gunn.
The group’s accolades are what make this group even more legendary. The faction won the tag team championship eight times, the WWF/Intercontinental Championship four times, the European Championship five times, the Hardcore Championship two times, and the Women’s Championship twice. Perhaps the most impressive title win came when Chyna won the Intercontinental Championship, making her the only female to hold this belt.

D-Generation X wasn’t just successful in wrestling. Still, a cultural force that propelled WWE to new heights of popularity, and one figure that reaped the rewards of this success was Triple H. Hunter Hearst Helmsley was transformed into The Game, one of the most iconic figures in the history of the company. It was his leadership role in the group that would propel him to his 14 world title reigns and the eventual Chief Content Officer of WWE.
Narrowing down WWE’s greatest factions is never easy, as each of these five powerhouses brings a unique claim to the top spot. From immense cultural impacts to record-breaking championship hauls, their influence is undeniable. One certainty is that, regardless of the order, these groups fundamentally changed the WWE landscape forever.
