8 – Survivor Series 2008
The highlight of Survivor Series 2008 was John Cena returning to in-ring action for the first time in three months, challenging a red-hot Chris Jericho for the World Heavyweight Championship. Cena had hometown support, with the event emanating from TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Big Match John prevailed by winning the World Heavyweight Championship for the first time in his career.
The Undertaker and Big Show’s rivalry culminated with the Deadman defeating the World’s Largest Athlete in a Casket match. The WWE Women’s Champion, “The Glamazon,” Beth Phoenix, secured victory for Team Raw as the sole survivor by lastly seeing off Team SmackDown’s Maryse.
Furthermore, the triple threat match for Triple H’s WWE Championship was scheduled for the Game to defend the title against Vladimir Kozlov and Jeff Hardy. However, the Charismatic Enigma no-showed with “The Rated-R Superstar” Edge, shocking the world by replacing Hardy, and he clinched his third WWE Championship in one of the most iconic returns in Survivor Series history.
