5 WWE Hell in a Cell Matches that You Must Rewatch

The Hell in a Cell will make its return at WWE SummerSlam 2026. In the final chapter of their epic feud, Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar will step inside the cell to settle their score in a massive rubber match. Considering the disdain that has developed between the two monsters, the Devil’s Playground is the ideal setting for their final clash.

Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar III inside Hell in a Cell will certainly be a brutal and memorable war. If booked correctly, it might be the match of the year. Nonetheless, Femi and Lesnar have high standards to live up to because WWE has produced several classics inside the cell over the last few decades.

On that note, let’s look at 5 Hell in a Cell matches you must rewatch. Considering the long list of matches that have occurred, it is worth noting a few honorable mentions:

  • The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels at Badd Blood 1997: In Your House
  • Triple H vs. Cactus Jack at No Way Out 2000
  • The Undertaker vs. Randy Orton at Armageddon 2005

#5. The Undertaker vs. Mankind at King of the Ring 1998

It’s impossible to talk about Hell in a Cell without mentioning The Undertaker. The Phenom ruled the Devil’s Playground. His list of victims is long, including WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley. At King of the Ring 1998, Taker defeated Mankind, Foley’s most sadistic character, in one of the most historic matches of the Attitude Era.

Foley is the Hardcore Legend. As such, he was always willing to put his body on the line. However, Mankind had to endure unbearable damage at the hands of The Undertaker at King of the Ring 1998. The match started atop the cell, which turned out to be disastrous for the Hardcore Legend.

Taker sent Mankind crashing through the announce table from 20 feet above atop the cell. This memorable spot was immortalized. A normal man would have given up, but Foley came back for more. Unfortunately, there was still plenty of punishment left for Mankind to endure.

Near the end, the Phenom Chokeslammed Mankind through the roof of the cell. The ring was damaged beyond repair. After putting his opponent through hell, Taker put Foley’s sadistic alter ego away with a Tombstone Piledriver onto a pile of thumbtacks.
