How Everton Have Lined Up Recently
Everton lined up in their usual 4-2-3-1 for their recent 0-0 draw against Burnley on December 27. However, fans were shocked when star-winger Jack Grealish wasn’t named in the matchday squad, with manager David Moyes confirming Grealish was out due to illness. Tyler Dibling started on the wing instead, making this Dibling’s second Premier League start after his move from Southampton in the summer.

Jordan Pickford started in goal with a defensive line of Jake O’Brien, James Tarkowski, Michael Keane and Vitaliy Mykolenko. James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam lined up as the defensive midfielders with Dwight McNeil, Carlos Alcaraz and Dibling occupying the attacking midfield. Beto finished the lineup up front as he replaced Thierno Barry.
Everton Recent Form And Tactics
David Moyes is aware of the congestion in the table, saying: “It’s very hard. If you win two, you might move up to fifth. If you lost two, you might drop down to 15th.
I think the way the league is, I think what we want to do is make sure that we’re in a strong enough position.”
The point against Burnley was crucial for the Toffees to add to their points tally, and they will want to continue to add to it to ensure they stay in or near the top half of the table.
Everton have only lost one of their last five away fixtures, with their defensive setup helping to keep clean sheets. However, their reliance on set pieces for goals is making it difficult for them to secure comfortable wins.
Injuries, Suspensions, and AFCON
Everton still have a number of key players that are currently out with long-term injuries. Seamus Coleman, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Jarrad Branthwaite are all still unfit, with Moyes not sounding confident that they will return for their game against Forest.
Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye are still at the African Cup of Nations with Senegal, so they remain unavailable for the midweek game.
