Roma Eyeing Alex Telles on Loan to Replace Leonardo Spinazzola
Serie A giants Roma have contacted Manchester United regarding a potential loan deal to sign 28-year-old left-back Alex Telles. The Italians suffered a huge injury blow after their first-choice left-back tore his ACL during Italy’s victorious Euro 2020 campaign. Spinazzola was arguably one of the players of Euro 2020 before sustaining his injury.
Telles has struggled in England following his move to Manchester United. The Brazilian arrived at Old Trafford last season but failed to nail down a regular spot in the line-up. The 28-year-old’s chances was not helped by the resurgence of United’s Player of the Year, Luke Shaw. Telles made 24 appearances for the Red Devils, with most of them being outside the Premier League. Despite his lack of chances, Telles recently spoke fondly of his debut season during an interview with the club website.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Roma are likely to have a tough time negotiating a deal for the left-back. The Red Devils are said to be reluctant to accept a loan for the Brazilian. The Giallorossi, though, are only keen to sign the left-back as a potential cover for the injured Leonardo Spinazzola.
Roma Looking to Add More Names Before the End of the Transfer Window
Roma are expected to be very active in this transfer season. The Italian side have already added Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Patricio from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka is another who is close to securing a move to the Stadio Olimpico.
Expectations are high at the Stadio Olimpico this season after the arrival of legendary manager Jose Mourinho.
