Chelsea transfer news: Xabi Alonso arrives at the stadium during a round of 16 match of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup at Hard Rock Stadium.

Chelsea Midfielder Commits Future Amid Interest from Europe

The 2026 World Cup is edging towards its conclusion, and the attention will quickly turn to the coming 2026/27 season. Xabi Alonso has officially begun his tenure as the Chelsea manager, so we can expect the Chelsea transfer news rumour mill to increase. Marco Palestra is the most high-profile Chelsea arrival so far, but in a boost for Alonso, the West London club have convinced one of their brightest talents, Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli, to sign scholarship terms, committing his future amid interest from several leading European clubs.

Chelsea Aim for New Beginnings Under Xabi Alonso

Chelsea Transfer News: Midfielder Commits Future

Chelsea endured a highly challenging 2025/26 season, finishing 10th in the league, with Enzo Maresca and his replacement, Liam Rosenior, both departing as managers. The appointment of Alonso as manager feels like a great appointment for the club, and one the fans can get behind. More incomings and departures can be expected, but securing the future of Nicoll-Jazuli is vital for the future of the club.

Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli Stays at Stamford Bridge

Nicoll-Jazuli is expected to sign a professional contract when he turns 17, in January 2027. The talented midfielder has already trained with the first team and turned down interest from leading European clubs.

He has proven a vital cog in the success of Chelsea’s youth sides, including being a part of the title winning Under-18 side in the 2025-26 season. He also made appearances for the under-21 side, where he scored in a 6-3 UEFA Youth League win against Ajax in October.

The talented teenager has also played for England’s Under-16s and Under-17s teams, while still being eligible to play for Australia, Sudan and France.

Chelsea have lost talent in recent years, with Jamal Musiala and Rio Ngumoha leaving the club, so securing the future of Nicoll-Jazuli is a huge boost for the West London club.

At 16 years old, there is plenty more to come from Nicoll-Jazuli. Can he fulfil this clear potential and justify how highly Chelsea clearly rate him? Time will tell, but he is a big talent! With Enzo Fernandez’s future uncertain, could we see Nicoll-Jazuli with the first team sooner rather than later?
