Xabi Alonso To Welcome ‘Once-In-A-Generation Talent’ During Pre-Season

Chelsea Football Club have signed a lot of players, so much so that it is sometimes difficult to even keep track with all of the incoming and pre-agreed deals. This summer, the Blues are already adding pre-agreements for Geovany Quenda, Emmanuel Emegha, and Denner Evangelista but there is one more name who The Athletic are reporting will be given a chance to impress in pre-season.

Incoming Chelsea Talent to Get Pre-Season Chance

According to the latest DealSheet from Simon Johnson, incoming youngster Dastan Satpayev is expected to get a chance to play and impress during pre-season. Incoming manager Xabi Alonso is working with a blank slate and will have to make some tough decisions over who stays in his squad and who could need a loan for development.

Satpayev is turning 18 and will be eligible to make a move agreed over a year ago having featured for club and country effectively as he has shone as one of Kairat Almaty and Kazakhstan’s finest.

How Good Is He?

The striker is considered to be “a once-in-a-generation talent in Kazakhstan” having broken through and led Kairat to the league phase of the Champions League while also earning eight caps for his country at age 17. The attacker took the youth levels by storm, scoring 19 goals in 17 appearances in a U18 league which earned him a place in the senior squad.

He had a tough year with his side as they had to balance domestic play with the rigors of the UEFA Champions league but the youngster still came through and provided 14 goal contributions in 28 appearances.

In 2024/25, Satpayev was able to focus more on the league campaign and netted 14 times in 26 appearances as his side won the Kazakh league with him as their leading marksman. It’s safe to say he has earned the generational moniker, being a proven goalscorer and winner at the centre of a fairytale story for Kairat Almaty.
