‘Internal Decision Has Been Made’: Manchester United Reveal Transfer Deadline Day Stance

Manchester United suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in the Premier League at the weekend. Despite that, it seems that they have made a clear plan when it comes to pursuing any potential business on transfer deadline day, including the future of Alejandro Garnacho.

Manchester United Decide Against Making Signings On Transfer Deadline Day

What Is United’s Stance On Alejandro Garnacho?

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Red Devils have decided to make no more signings on the final day of the 2025 winter transfer window. He claims that an “internal decision has been made” in this regard among the hierarchy at Old Trafford even after seeing their issues in the recent loss to the Eagles.

Romano also claims that the Premier League heavyweights were never close to signing Christopher Nkunku or Leon Bailey to bolster their squad on transfer deadline day. A possible positive, however, is that the journalist has claimed that Alejandro Garnacho is now set to stay in Ruben Amorim’s squad after having been strongly linked to an exit earlier in the January window. It only looks like Tyrell Malacia is reportedly on course to leave Manchester United on loan, following Marcus Rashford (who joined Aston Villa) and Antony (who joined Real Betis) in similar short-term moves.

How Did Manchester United’s Winter Transfer Business Go?

The Red Devils decided to sign young talents in the 2025 winter transfer window to improve the long-term options for Amorim’s squad. They signed young centre-back Ayden Heaven from the Arsenal youth set-up, with the youngster going into their first-team signing. On top of that, United also improved options for the left wingback area by signing Danish international Patrick Dorgu from Lecce.

They have also signed Paraguayan defender Diego Leon to improve their left-back options for the future, especially with Luke Shaw’s injury problems not improving. It appears that United are happy with these signings, failing to sign an attacking player after losing out on Mathys Tel to Tottenham Hotspur.
