Manchester United Rocked by Massive Valuation for International Target

End of an Era: Erik ten Hag’s First Signing Set to Leave Manchester United

In just a few months in the dugout, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has stamped his authority. The winter transfer window marks his first opportunity to address areas of need, and as a result, Tyrell Malacia is set to leave the club on loan to PSV.

Tyrell Malacia Close to Loan to PSV

Malacia Move to PSV Impending

Fabrizio Romano has stated that PSV are “closing in” on signing Tyrell Malacia on loan from Manchester United. The Dutch defender will return to his homeland to play for PSV pending a medical.

The message from Amorim is clear. He has implemented a 3-4-2-1 formation and requires robust wing-backs as a key part of this system. Until now, he has mostly trusted Noussair Mazraoui or Diogo Dalot, who typically play on the right side of the field, to take on the responsibility of this position.

And his first signing at the club was Patrick Dorgu. The 20-year-old, who played for Lecce, is a prime candidate for the role of a left wing-back. His arrival now signals even fewer opportunities for Malacia, who may have already considered going elsewhere for the good of his career.

Malacia Missed His Moment at Manchester United

Malacia was the first signing of Erik ten Hag’s reign at Manchester United, moving to the Premier League for a fee of £13 million from Conference League finalists Feyenoord. The transfer seemed a decent buy for a player who could be a backup to Luke Shaw and fight for a starting spot.

But injuries have hampered playing time for a player who finds himself “unwanted” at the club. Shaw cemented his position as a starting left back and Malacia then missed the whole of the previous campaign following a surgery on his knee.

Upon his return in December, Malacia has rotated with Dalot and Mazraoui as a left wing-back. But his time on the field has been limited. Amorim admitted that his fitness needs improvement: “It’s really hard on Malacia. It is a long time without playing, and then it’s hard to play a lot of games.”

Malacia never made a mark at Manchester United, but a loan to PSV might put him back in a groove.
