Newcastle vs Arsenal Confirmed Lineups for September 28

Newcastle United Predicted Lineup vs Southampton

Newcastle United’s impressive winning run ended last weekend with a thumping home defeat at the hands of Bournemouth. Can the Magpies get back to winning ways when they travel to the south coast to take on a Southampton side who have only managed one victory from their twenty-two league games to date? Here is our Newcastle United predicted lineup for Eddie Howe’s men.

How Newcastle United Have Lined Up Recently

Howe had a settled side before last weekend with the team in good form. Martin Dubravka was in goal, with Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall as full backs. The centre full-backsback partnership was the problem area for Newcastle against a pacy Bournemouth. Sven Botman was replaced at half-time with Fabian Schar taking his place in the centre of defence alongside Dan Burn. So many questions can be asked of the players when you are on the end of an embarrassing home defeat, but Eddie Howe was very succinct in his post-match analysis: “We were beaten by the better team. I thought physically we didn’t look anywhere near our best levels today. That yard of pace that we normally have in our own game wasn’t there.”

As mentioned in previous weeks, the midfield trio of Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali have been in terrific form, supporting a recognised front three of Anthony Gordon, Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak. On the plus side, Newcastle United have had a full week to recover from that painful Bournemouth loss and will be keen to get it out of their system. Despite being overwhelming favourites, They won’t take anything for granted against a Southampton side that are rock bottom, having conceded fifty league goals to date.

Newcastle United Recent Form and Tactics

Newcastle United’s form bubble was well and truly bust when an impressive Bournemouth side defended well and hit with pace on the counterattack to significant effect. That defeat put an end to their six-game winning run in the league. Remarkably, Southampton have scored just seven league goals at St Mary’s this season, a pitiful return. If Howe’s men recover that yard of pace that was lacking last weekend, the creativity in his front three and the pace and power of his midfield should see the Geordies get back to winning ways.

Newcastle United Injuries to Consider
