Chelsea Monitoring ‘Next Neymar’

The Blues Almost Signed the Teenage Star on Deadline Day

According to the Evening Standard journalist, Norwegian teenage star Antonio Nusa almost joined the Stamford Bridge side on transfer deadline day. The Londoners looked to pull off a major coup in the final few hours of the window by offering Club Brugge £23 million for their young winger. The bid was eventually rejected by the Belgian club.

According to reports, Mauricio Pochettino’s team could have signed the prodigy if some of the potential departures had materialised. Ian Maatsen or Conor Gallagher’s exit would have paved the way for the youngster to join.

The player himself has confirmed that the 2020 Champions League winners made an approach to buy him during the transfer window, per Fabrizio Romano. The Norway U21 international said: “We had a new talk when the money came but I knew what to do. A lot of money… but I can’t focus on that. I want to really think through my next step, what’s right for me.”

Who Is Nusa and What Are His Strengths?

The 18-year-old currently plays in the Belgian league for Club Brugge. The hot prospect is naturally a right-footed left-winger but his versatility and skill set allow him to excel on the right side of the attack as well as through the centre. With his goal against Porto in last season’s Champions League group stage, he became the second youngest goalscorer in the competition’s history.
