France Predicted Lineup vs Morocco

How France Have Lined-up Recently

France rotated their squad for the final group stage game, having already qualified for the knockout stage. Other than that game, they’ve had the same starting lineup for all four games except one change. Jules Koundé has started at right back for all but the opening game against Australia, when Benjamin Pavard started. They have been unchanged in starting formation and personnel in the last three games. Hugo Lloris has captained the team in goal for all but the Tunisia match. Dayot Upamecano and Raphaël Varane have been at center back. Theo Hernandez has started on the left to compliment Koundé on the right. Adrien Rabiot and Aurélien Tchouaméni have played in the double pivot in midfield. Olivier Giroud has started up top and is finally scoring. Antoine Griezmann has played behind him with Ousmane Dembélé and Kylian Mbappé on the flanks.

France Recent Form and Tactics

Deschamps has been consistent in formation, with France playing a 4-2-3-1. They’ve generally played played the waiting game. So far, they’ve averaged 48% possession. The double pivot has won the ball then gotten it forward to the front four to play in transition. Excluding the Tunisia game in which they rotated the squad heavily, they’ve taken the first lead in each game. Once they score first, they set up defensively, invite the opponent forward, and strike again. They are now 4-1-0, with their only loss to Tunisia. Les Bleus cruised through the group stage beating Australia and Denmark to start. They took care of Poland 3-1 in the Round of 16, only conceding on a late penalty. England were arguably the better side in their last match, but France were clinical in both boxes. This team very much looks as dangerous as they were three and a half years ago.

France Injuries to Consider

Upamecano and Rabiot have reportedly both been limited in training due to illness ahead of this game. If Upamencao cannot start, Ibrahima Konaté will likely take his place. For Rabiot, it will be Jordan Veretout, or less likely Youssouf Fofana. Morocco are dealing with their own injury issues in their all important midfield which could cancel out these disadvantages. No French players are out due to yellow card accumulation for this match. France are of course without Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, and Paul Pogba who all sustained injuries before the tournament started.
