Luis Campos Gives Honest Assessment on Dembele

In the recently-passed summer window, the new PSG Director played a major role over their transfers and was responsible for orchestrating a number of the deals. He took over the responsibilities of ex-PSG sporting director Leonardo, who left the club after the end of last season.

Before the summer window had even begun, PSG splurged an enormous amount of money to convince Kylian Mbappe to stay with them rather than join Real Madrid. Fabrizio Romano states that the Ligue 1 side were only interested in signing Dembele when Leonardo was part of the club. The former Director was reportedly the one to hold talks with the French winger’s representatives and push the interest to bring him to Paris.

But the Brazilian was forced to leave his post with PSG and the club changed their minds about making a move for the French international, who was once dubbed as ‘better than Neymar’ by former Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu. Dembele eventually changed his mind, signing a two-year contract with Barcelona and has started the season well with them.
