Fabrizio Romano Issues Tranfer Update for Sidelined Manchester United Star

Donny van de Beek

Of late, several reports have linked Manchester United star, Donny van de Beek, with a move away from Old Trafford.

One of the clubs associated with the midfielder was Italian outfit Inter Milan, however, speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside, Fabrizio Romano has shut that particular rumour down, stating: “To be honest, I’ve never heard of this possibility. Inter currently have six midfielders so nothing going on.”

A Lack of Playing Time at Manchester United

The driving force behind the rumours surrounding Donny van de Beek is his current lack of playing time at Manchester United.

The general consensus regarding Van de Beek was that the arrival of Erik ten Hag would result in a drastic increase in the Dutchman’s playing time at the club. However, this has not been the case, with the midfielder making just three appearances in all competitions so far this season – equating to a total of just 19 minutes of football.

Despite that though, the 25-year-old is maintaining a positive outlook on his situation. When questioned on his lack of game time, Van de Beek said: “A club like United needs many options and it needs a big squad to play and have a good season.

“Everyone wants to play, but you have to show it and you need to improve yourself every day to be in the first eleven. Having lots of options will keep everyone sharp and, for this, we need lots of good players.”

From the outside looking in, it appears that Van de Beek is keen to work hard and earn his spot in Ten Hag’s starting lineup rather than allowing his situation to affect the morale in the dressing room. However, after missing out on the Netherlands’ squad for their upcoming international fixtures, the midfielder will be all too aware that if his current situation does not improve, then he is at risk of not being picked for the Qatar World Cup.
