The wish of many Manchester United fans may be about to come true. Their ‘dream’ front three of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Jadon Sancho could be about to set the Premier League on fire, with their preseason performances showing that Erik ten Hag could be able to get the best out of each of them.

Struggles of 2021/22 Season Could Be Over
Manchester United struggled all across the pitch during the 2021/22 season, but their attack was one of their weakest areas.
Cristiano Ronaldo led the line very well for the Red Devils during their worst campaign in recent memory, scoring a total of 24 times, including 18 in the Premier League. Despite this, his regularity in the starting lineup came with problems.
For a start, his strengths did not fit Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s counter-attacking style of play, and as such tactics had to be altered to fit around the new big-name signing. This did not work particularly well, with the Norwegian boss sacked in November despite a very promising start to the campaign.
Most notably, though, a club the size of United should not be relying on a 37-year-old as their main, and virtually only, source of regular goals.
The Portuguese legend was the Manchester side’s only attacker to reach double digits for goals scored in the league last campaign, with Bruno Fernandes, a midfielder, the only other player in United’s ranks to do so. After Fernandes, the player still at Old Trafford with the next highest goalscoring output was Marcus Rashford, with just four league goals to his name over the course of the entire 2021/22 campaign.
Promising Outlook for 2022/23
While these numbers are shocking, Sancho, Martial, and Rashford could be about to show the best of themselves over the next year. In the Red Devils’ first three friendlies of preseason, the Frenchman has scored thrice, while the English duo have each netted two goals.
The linkup play between the three has also been impressive, as has the apparent confidence with which they are playing. Some incredibly skilful play has been shown off by each member of this dream trio, leading to the belief that Erik ten Hag could have pulled off some marvellous work in rejuvenating and revitalising Rashford and Martial’s dwindling careers.
He also seems to be getting the best out of a Sancho who, until recently, had not shown his full range of abilities in the red of Manchester United.
