Chelsea Prepare to Gazump Manchester United in Pursuit of £176K Per-Week Star

According to Spanish media outlet Relevo, Chelsea look set to make an audacious move to gazump Manchester United and secure the transfer of Frenkie de Jong, with FC Barcelona expecting a formal proposal from the West London club shortly. Thomas Tuchel’s men have expressed their desire to sign the Dutch midfielder and look set to test the resolve of the Catalan club, with the player unconvinced by the project on offer from Old Trafford.

What the Dutchman Would Bring to Stamford Bridge

Reports began to surface that an agreement between FC Barcelona and Manchester United had been reached for the Dutchman. Despite this reported agreement between the two clubs being reached, its become apparent that De Jong is uncertain about moving to the Manchester giants.

The Red Devils have bided their time this summer but it now seems the Old Trafford hierarchy have reached the end of their patience with Chelsea set to swoop in and sign the Dutch star. It’s thought that De Jong would be interested in a move to Chelsea with Champions League football on offer with a good financial package sure to be on offer for the player.

The first option for the midfielder and his preferred one is to stay at Camp Nou and fight for his place in the team. However, it’s becoming clear that the club need to sell the 25-year-old to balance the books and help facilitate the arrival of some new signings. De Jong is thought to be interested in a move to West London, but only if a sensational offer is received from the Premier League club.

De Jong would bring an abundance of ability to the Stamford Bridge midfield, with his ability to resist pressure and look assured on the ball being two of his best assets. He has a great football brain which ensures he always seems to find space, which leads us to his passing which is accurate and decisive with both feet.

Chelsea only have Mateo Kovacic with this sort of capacity who excels with the ball at his feet and drives forward, meaning De Jong would share some of the burden with the Croat midfielder.

The Dutch international is always demanding the ball and is adept at keeping the tempo in attacks flowing. He is adept at making late runs into the opposition box making him a goal threat. Chelsea seemingly have plenty of numbers in the midfield area, but when a player of De Jong’s ability becomes available, every club has to take a look.
