What Was Said

After the announcement, Christian Eriksen said: “Manchester United is a special club, and I cannot wait to get started. I have had the privilege of playing at Old Trafford many times but to do it in the red shirt of United will be an amazing feeling.”

“I have seen Erik’s work at Ajax and know the level of detail and preparation that he and his staff put into every day.” He added. “It is clear that he is a fantastic coach. Having spoken with him and learned more about his vision and the way he wants the team to play, I am even more excited for the future. I still have major ambitions in the game, there is a huge amount that I know I can achieve, and this is the perfect place to continue my journey.”

United’s Football Director John Murtough added: “Christian has been one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe throughout his career. It is no surprise that he had so many options this summer, so we are really happy that he was convinced, that this is the right club for him.”

“In addition to his outstanding technique, Christian will add valuable experience and leadership skills to the squad, and we are looking forward to seeing the benefits of these qualities on the pitch this coming season and beyond.”

Continuing the Rebuild

Manchester United endured a disappointing campaign last season, finishing sixth in the Premier League. Erik Ten Hag then replaced interim manager Ralf Rangnick, looking to return the Devils to the pinnacle of world football.

Tyrell Malacia became the first signing of the new era when the 22-year-old joined from Feyenoord. Eriksen has now been confirmed as the second. The former Spurs and Brentford talisman has been on United’s radar all summer as Ten Hag looks to bolster his creativity in midfield.

A Highly Coveted Capture

Eriksen survived a cardiac arrest last summer and worked his way back to match fitness despite being released by Inter Milan. Brentford snapped up the Dane in January, and he repaid the faith of the Bees. He netted once and provided four assists while creating five big chances in 11 games (10 starts).

With United losing Paul Pogba, the signing of Eriksen could prove a masterstroke as Ten Hag looks to solve his creativity problems. The Denmark international has proven he still has what it takes to succeed at the highest level.

After racking up 237 Premier League appearances across London, Eriksen will add some much-needed experience to United. He has registered 52 goals and 71 assists. The midfielder has been capped 115 times for Denmark, scoring 38 goals for his country.
