Liverpool Reject Opening Offer for Prolific Forward

Liverpool reject

Sadio Mané is open to a summer move to Bayern Munich but an opening bid of £21 million plus £4 million in bonuses has seen Liverpool reject the offer, according to Paul Joyce.

Liverpool Reject Bid Because Offer Too Low

According to Joyce, the offer for Mané is below their valuation of the Senegal international, despite only having one year remaining on his current deal.

It is believed that the bonus would be paid should Bayern win the Champions League – a competition they last won in 2020 with victory over Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Fabrizio Romano reports that Mané is happy with a move to Munich and adds that talks between the two clubs will continue in the coming days.

Interest From Bayern

It was reported last month that Bayern Munich wanted to sign Sadio Mané and the club’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic had met with his agent.

At the time, there had been no negotiations between the two clubs but interest in the 30-year-old remains high from the German champions, as has been highlighted in those meetings.

This move will become all the more important for the Bundesliga champions should Robert Lewandowski leave the Allianz Arena this summer.

The Poland international has requested a move away with Barcelona a likely destination for the 33-year-old.

Do Liverpool Need to Sell?

Although he only has 12 months remaining on his current deal, Liverpool should hold out for a higher bid from the German club if they are willing to allow the Senegal international to depart.

His productivity for the Premier League club cannot be ignored following his arrival from Southampton in 2016.

If, or when, Mané does leave Anfield, it will begin the task of a major rebuild for Reds manager Jurgen Klopp. The German may also be resigned to losing Mohamed Salah next summer, meaning keeping a core of players could be vital.

Although Klopp has seen several players depart since his arrival in 2015, replacing Mané and Salah could be the most daunting task yet.
