Angel Di Maria Decision Remains Up In the Air

Angel Di Maria decision

The Angel Di Maria decision has yet to be made. The Argentine winger is a free agent this summer as his contract expires with Paris Saint-Germain. The veteran still has plenty to offer, so it’s likely that many clubs are ready to pounce for his signature.

Angel Di Maria Decision Is Still a Mystery

What Was Said

“We’ll see what happens,” Di Maria said in quotes reported by Fabrizio Romano. “I’ve already been through big clubs, my family supported me and followed me everywhere.”

Di Maria also said his decision rests on both him and his new club being happy with it.

He’s now 34-years-old, which is past the usual prime of a winger, but Di Maria still contributed quite well for PSG last season. He scored five goals and provided eight assists in 26 league matches. Di Maria only started 13 of those matches, so he was effective as both a starter and off the bench. The season prior, Di Maria scored five goals and provided 11 assists in 27 league appearances.

Juventus Interest

As of now, it looks as if Juventus are leading the charge for Di Maria. It looked close to official, although Di Maria’s recent comments may spark some doubt for the time being.

A Juventus move makes sense, however. First off, for Di Maria, it allows him to continue to play at a major club. Juventus have had a poor last two seasons based on their recent standards, but the club remains a giant in Serie A and continues to qualify for Champions League.

Juventus are also losing top attacking talent like Paulo Dybala and Federico Bernardeschi. This opens a position for Di Maria to immediately slot into. In addition, Giorgio Chiellini is leaving the club. His veteran presence has been massive over the years, and Di Maria carries plenty of experience to help mitigate that loss.
