Federico Bernardeschi Leaving Juventus this Summer

Federico Bernardeschi Leaving Juventus

Italian winger Federico Bernardeschi will be leaving Juventus this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano. The player’s contract expires in June and an extension is not happening. This is yet another loss in the attacking department for Juventus, as star Paulo Dybala is also leaving.

Another Attacking Blow

Bernardeschi arrived at Juventus prior to the 2017/18 season. Much was expected from the Italian international, as he scored 11 goals and provided four assists in his last season with Fiorentina. Although not a constant starter, Bernardeschi provides attacking depth.

His best league season with Juventus was actually his first one. In 22 Serie A appearances, Bernardeschi scored four goals and provided five assists. This past season, with Juventus disappointedly finishing fourth in the league yet again, Bernardeschi holds one goal and three assists to his name in 27 appearances. This, of course, is a letdown considering Dybala struggled to shine and another winger in Federico Chiesa was sidelined for half the season.

Bernardeschi, however, is a solid option to have available. He’s an Italian National Team player and rarely struggles with injury. This is another loss in the Juventus attacking department.

At the moment, Juventus has three attackers going into next season. The list includes Chiesa, Dusan Vlahovic, and the inexperienced Kaio Jorge. Moise Kean currently plays for the squad but is technically an Everton player. The same goes for Alvaro Morata as he belongs to Atletico Madrid.

Juventus has a lot of work to do in preparation for next season. The club is close to bringing in Angel Di Maria from Paris Saint-Germain. He’s as experienced as wingers come, but not an immediate problem solver.

The situation is approaching a dire point, as the club’s Serie A dynasty looks to be over while star power, as well as experienced veterans, are leaving the squad.
