Manchester United to Consider Departures of Two Important Defenders

Manchester United to consider selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Eric Bailly this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

As Romano states, any deal would depend on the proposals put forward.

Manchester United to Consider Selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Eric Bailly This Summer

Wan-Bissaka and Bailly Involvement

Eric Bailly’s Manchester United career has been littered with disappointment. Largely because the talent is there for all to see, but the Ivorian either struggles to keep fit or has a sharp downturn in form, it is mostly the former in fairness.

However, even when he has been fit, he has not been an option interim manager Ralf Rangnick has ever really sought to rely on. This will be frustrating for Bailly, who signed a new contract just last summer. In 2021/22, he had made just seven appearances for United.

As for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, before this season he was of heavy reliance to Manchester United. However, it seems with the return of Diogo Dalot from his loan at AC Milan, has come to the demise of Wan-Bissaka. Rangnick, in particular, has used Wan-Bissaka less and less.

Whilst good options in their finest hours, there are question marks as to whether both players can really cut it for Manchester United over a 38-game season. With new manager Erik ten Hag set to take charge, United may look to raise some funds for the summer by selling some of the less-needed players in the squad.

Even if United weren’t to sign another right-back, Brandon Williams returns from his loan at Norwich City this summer and can provide them with another option on both sides.

Eric Bailly is already low down in the pecking order of centre-backs at Old Trafford and as shown with his lack of appearances this campaign, won’t be missed too much.

Wan-Bissaka has been linked with a return to Crystal Palace in recent months – though, that will only likely be on loan.
