AC Milan Working on Final Details for Divock Origi Transfer

Divock Origi

AC Milan are working on the final details for a Divock Origi arrival this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano. Origi has already informed Liverpool of his decision to leave the club, while the Reds are aware of the current negotiations going on between the player and the Italian club. The contract proposal is in its final stages.

Perfect Scenario for Both Sides

This deal makes a lot of sense for both the player and the club.

First off, Milan are in need of a striker. The current depth chart includes Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud. Ibrahimovic is 40-years-old while Giroud is 35. The future of Ibrahimovic is also in question. He’s reportedly eager to continue his career, but winning a Scudetto with Milan, which seems increasingly likely, would be an ideal swan song. Giroud will remain at the club as he’s enjoying a solid season, but of course, age is a factor. Milan’s lack of depth was obvious this season as Ibrahimovic struggled with injury. The club needs more support in the striking department if they want to contend in next season’s Champions League.

Origi goes down as a fan favourite at Liverpool. He never put up the numbers of a top striker, but that was fine in his relief role behind the other star forwards. He scored a number of fantastic and crucial goals during his Liverpool tenure and is ready for a chance to start. Origi holds six goals and four assists to his name this season in 17 matches across all competitions.

Milan gives Origi an opportunity to start for a top club competing in both their league and in Europe. Finally, it will give Origi a better stage to impress the Belgium National Team as the World Cup approaches.
