Federico Chiesa

An Important Player

Chiesa picked up a serious ACL injury in January, keeping him out of the rest of the season. He has yet to return, which isn’t a surprise coming from an injury like that, but he should be ready to go for next season.

That’s good news for Juventus as Chiesa will be crucial. Creative star Paulo Dybala is already on his way out of the club, meaning the Italian will hold a major role next season. The positive, however, is that Juventus now lays claim to forward Dusan Vlahovic. He’s one of the most talented young strikers in football. Vlahovic is also increasingly looking like the best striker in Serie A.

Before his injury, Chiesa had two goals and three assists in 14 Serie A appearances this season. He also had two goals and an assist in four Champions League appearances. Last season, Chiesa had eight goals and eight assists in 30 Serie A appearances. Last summer, he also starred in Italy’s victorious UEFA Euro 2020 championship run. He’s a very versatile forward – being able to play both wing spots as well as right behind the striker.

At 24-years-old, Chiesa represents the future of the Juventus attack alongside Vlahovic. Juventus will be going through major changes as Dybala was a constant in the attack of legends such as Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci are getting older. The club always has a major Italian name in the squad and it looks as if this title will belong to Chiesa.
