Sadio Mane of Interest to Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich are looking to sign Liverpool striker Sadio Mane, according to Sky Sports Germany reporter, Florian Plettenberg.

The Senegal international is still under contract until 2023 but the Reds may decide to cash in now as he enters the final 12 months of his deal.

Agent Has Met Bayern Sporting Director

According to Plettenberg, Bayern Munich’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has met with Mane’s agent in recent weeks.

So far, there have been no negotiations between the two clubs but interest in the 30-year-old is high from the German champions, as has been highlighted with these meetings.

After Bayern’s 2-2 draw against Stuttgart on Sunday, Salihamidzic said when asked whether there would be a big-name transfer at Bayern: “Let yourself be surprised.

“We have to see what is possible and what is not. We have creative ideas.”

Mane has scored 117 goals in 264 appearances for Liverpool since his arrival from Southampton in 2016.

Contract Talks Stall Between Liverpool and Sadio Mane

It has also been reported that talks over a new Liverpool contract have proven difficult. The club are looking to prioritise a new deal for Mohamed Salah, with the Egyptian also out of contract in 2023, and this may have unsettled Mane.

With just 12 months remaining on his deal, it could be worth cashing in on the striker, who has been at the club for six seasons.

Robert Lewandowski

Could this potential transfer raise further questions over the future of star striker Robert Lewandowski? The Poland international, who has been in Munich since 2014, has expressed his desire for a new challenge.

Barcelona are one club that are looking to lure the 33-year-old away but Bayern had been looking to keep hold of the striker. That could now change with a potential arrival of Mane.
