Real Madrid Discuss Possibility of Fran Garcia’s Return

Fran Garcia

Currently at Spanish side Rayo Vallecano, Fran Garcia remains a priority for Real Madrid in the summer. Real Madrid still holds 50% rights of the La Fabrica graduate and will be looking to use this as leverage to lure the Spanish left-back into their ranks.

Garcia would cost Real Madrid around €5m with a clause included in the current deal with Rayo Vallecano (€10m, but Madrid have a 50% sell-on clause), according to Fabrizio Romano.

Real Madrid Look To Replace Marcelo With Fran Garcia

Left Back Position Needs Filling at Real Madrid

Fran Garcia remains a priority for Real Madrid and could return to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, merely a year after leaving the European giants who are looking to re-sign the talented full-back.

The European giants are looking ahead of time to cover the left-back spot for when Real Madrid legend Marcelo leaves and even began to explore Fran Garcia as a potential replacement at least two months ago.

It is assumed that Ferland Mendy, unless an impressive offer arrives, will continue to be the first choice for Carlo Ancelotti next season. His recent performances have not been as consistent as those in previous campaigns, but his presence helps to balance Madrid’s shaky defence.

Fran Garcia’s Time at Rayo Vallecano

The Spaniard has appreciated his breakthrough season at a senior level with Rayo Vallecano since joining them on a loan deal for the 2020/21 season. He impressed the staff at Estadio de Vallecas so much that a permanent transfer was completed last summer.

A solid 2021/22 campaign with two goal involvements in 31 appearances has not been disregarded. His impressive season combined with Real Madrid’s history of producing top quality fullbacks highlights the high ceiling that this young talent has.

Though a full-back by trade, Garcia has sometimes been deployed as a winger by Rayo Vallecano, which proves his versatility. He is blessed with frightening pace and technical attacking attributes and so performs well in both positions – a quality that all top coaches, including Ancelotti, will appreciate.
