As per David Ornstein of The Athletic and Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports, an unnamed Premier League London club have made an offer for Newcastle United target Diego Carlos. Clubs from London in the Premier League includes West Ham United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur. So far, out of those aforementioned teams, only Arsenal have been ruled out.

As the days tick by towards the end of the January transfer window, Diego Carlos is more and more likely to have a decision to make – perhaps the most important of his career, too.

Who Needs Carlos the Most?

As of right now, all we know is Carlos’ next destination is between an unnamed London club and Newcastle United. And, Arsenal have been ruled out. That still leaves a handful of clubs, however. So, who needs him the most.

Starting with West Ham, the Hammers have been hit with an injury blow at the back in recent months, and haven’t been the same since. As things stand, David Moyes is without Angelo Ogbonna until the end of the season at the very least. Signing Carlos would significantly bolster their pursuit of top four.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur could certainly use with an upgrade in the central defensive department. With Cristian Romero out with a long-term hamstring injury, too, Carlos would solve a few problems for Antonio Conte. As they seek Champions League qualification, reinforcements will be a key factor in their potential success.

That leaves Chelsea – the club that have more than enough central defensive quality. However, with Antonio Rudiger on course to leave this summer, Thomas Tuchel may feel as though The Blues need another central defender. The situation is not desperate, but that usually doesn’t dictate whether Chelsea dip into their deep pockets or not.
