West Ham United Interested in Ben Brereton Diaz

Brereton Diaz

Since changing his nationality from English to Chilean, striker Ben Brereton Diaz has been on imperious form in front of goal. He has gone from a rare goalscorer to a prolific one. Not only has this seen Blackburn Rovers soar up the Championship table, but it has attracted the attention of Premier League clubs, among others. The Guardian is reporting West Ham United have registered an interest in signing Brereton Diaz.

West Ham United Identify Ben Brereton Diaz as Potential Striker Solution

Incredible Form

Brereton Diaz and his form in front of goal have played an integral role for Tony Mowbray’s side. Despite having just lost to Hull City at the KCOM Stadium, Blackburn are finely poised sitting in third. Brereton Diaz is currently second in the Championship scoring charts. The Chilean is ahead of the likes of Dominic Solanke, Andreas Weimann, and Lewis Grabban with Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic leading the way.

From West Ham’s point of view, they are in need of attacking reinforcements. Michail Antonio is the only senior striker in the Irons’ ranks and with his injury record, they are running a huge risk. This, along with their optimization of the Championship is why this move makes a lot of sense to David Moyes and co. Jarrod Bowen is on red hot form currently and he arrived at the London Stadium from Hull City. Also, West Ham got Said Benrahma from Brentford, and whilst his career in claret and blue started slowly, the Algerian is now paying dividends.

Others Interested

Blackburn are level on points with second-placed Bournemouth and so one result could see them move into the automatic promotion places. Fulham are scoring for fun at the moment and they seem to be clear at the top. All is still to play for and so Brereton Diaz will surely remain at Blackburn to fight it out for promotion. Especially when you consider that the man from Stoke-on-Trent is just twenty-two years old and has his whole career ahead of him.

The striker also has interest from the likes Brighton & Hove Albion, Leeds United and Sevilla. Blackburn are said to value him at £25m but are unlikely to make any transfer for their star man easy.

Brereton Diaz will soon be absent from club football as Chile have World Cup qualifiers v Argentina and Bolivia around the corner.
