Ousmane Dembele Furious at Latest Developments in His Transfer Saga

It has emerged that Ousmane Dembele is less than pleased with his treatment from Barcelona in the latest development of his transfer saga. The Frenchman’s contract at the Nou Camp expires this summer, but there had been signs emerging that an extension could be possible. That progress has now been all but shattered, with Dembele now publically stating his anger at recent events.

Left Out of Barcelona’s Squad to Face Athletic Bilbao

Barcelona confirmed on Thursday morning that Dembele had been left out of their squad to face Athletic Bilbao later in the day. Despite the Frenchman’s generally poor injury record during his time in Spain, he was not omitted on the basis of fitness, and this is where his concerns have stemmed from.

While there were signals from the club that Dembele’s contract negotiations were not going well, nothing was ever explicitly stated, and manager Xavi spoke about the situation as if there was still a real possibility that the former Borussia Dortmund man would sign a new deal.

Dembele Takes to Social Media

The 24-year-old who moved to the Catalan giants in 2017 for over £135 million was furious with his club’s actions and took to social media to voice his displeasure.

“For four years people have spoken for me, shamefully lied with a single purpose, the intention of harming me,” Dembele posted on his Instagram account.

“I have been following my line of never answering for four years. Has it been a mistake?

“Surely. It’s over”.

Dembele has been linked with a move to Newcastle United recently, and this is a deal that would make sense for all parties. The winger’s contract demands have been something of an issue for his Spanish side, who cannot meet his requests due to La Liga wage restrictions, but the story would be different with the Magpies who are keen to complete as many deals as possible this January transfer window.
