Barcelona Transfer News: Approach Made for Alvaro Morata; Ousmane Dembélé on Course for Departure

Barcelona Transfer news

With January fast approaching, the Barcelona transfer news is heating up by the day, with various targets reportedly identified. According to Diario AS and Fabrizio Romano, the Catalan giants have made an approach to sign Juventus and former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, with the Italian club reportedly considering a swap deal involving Memphis Depay.

In other Barcelona transfer news, the Ousmane Dembélé contract situation has reportedly hit a major roadblock. As per Gerard Romero, Barcelona can no longer afford Dembélé’s demands, leading to a potential break down in talks, with the Frenchman only willing to talk on his conditions.

Interest in Dembélé

Still 24, and on course to become available in a free deal next summer, Dembéle will be attracting plenty of potential suitors, including Newcastle United, according to Romano. The now-rich Magpies approached the Frenchman a few weeks ago, and may feel as though now is the ideal time to once again ask the question regarding Dembéle‘s desire to make the move.

Of course, given his talent, Newcastle are not the only Premier League club interested in Dembéle. Romano also stated that one other unnamed club have made an approach to sign the 24-year-old. And, it must be said, if that club is one of the ‘big six’, Dembéle may not be able to resist a move.

Juventus Considering Swap Deal

When Depay first walked through the gates of the Nou Camp, his head would have been full of dreams. And, for a couple of months, he looked likely to fulfil those dreams – getting off to a good start. Now in December, however, that dream looks increasingly more resemblant to that of an impending nightmare. The Dutchman has missed the last three games through injury, and has scored just eight goals all season.

Following the arrival of Ferran Torres, Depay may find himself left behind, as Barcelona build for the future. Reports certainly suggest that Barcelona would be willing to show him the door, in favour of welcoming Morata.
