Euro 2020 Fantasy Football Matchday Two

Euro 2020 Fantasy Football Matchday Two starts on June 16 with another full set of fixtures. Matchday one was exciting with some surprise team selections catching Fantasy managers out. With the knowledge of the starting lineups from the opening round, FPL managers can now hope to pick the players with more confidence. Let’s find out more about Matchday Two.

Quick Tips

Many fantasy managers will deploy the ‘Limitless Chip’ this round. This is a short tournament and as players will get unlimited transfers before the start of the knockout rounds, FPL managers can deploy one or both of the chips available in the group stage. In fact, the Limitless Chip is probably best deployed in the group stage as there is more likelihood of goals being scored compared to the later stages where the quality of teams should be superior. Managers should look at their squad and decide the chip strategy as soon as possible.

Reasons to deploy the Limitless Chip this round-

  1. France have a great match. The ideal team selection would include three of their players against Hungary and they all cost a lot.
  2. There is a possibility that many teams will rotate in matchday three; some nations will have already qualified for the knockouts and other teams might be out already- both looking to give their fringe players a game. Besides that, there will be the usual cases of fatigue and injuries to consider.

Now, let’s look at the possible picks from each day of this round.

Day One- Hrádecký the Hero While Italy Impress in Rome

Italy were really impressive in their opening match against Turkey and will look to pick up three more points against Switzerland. A clean sheet is likely although the Swiss might be tougher to break down. Leonardo Spinazzola had a brilliant game and should be considered. Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne are the best-attacking picks. Domenico Berardi also played well and should keep his spot in the starting lineup. Alessandro Florenzi will likely miss out. Gianluigi Donnarumma is also a decent option.

Lukáš Hrádecký was the hero of matchday one with an astonishing 13 points. He is a great option to have in this game as he plays on day one and can be substituted if he blanks. It is tough to call the Russia-Finland match but fans cannot rule out the possibility of a clean sheet for Finland.

Turkey will probably have to win to stay in the competition and they will enjoy a lot of support in Baku. Can Wales perform better than they did in the first match? A tricky one to call and it’s probably better to avoid the assets from this game.

Day Two- Belgium Favourites With Lukaku on Form

Ukraine will have to beat North Macedonia to stay in the competition. They have good options in Andriy Yarmolenko, Roman Yaremchuk, Ruslan Malinovskiy and Oleksandr Zinchenko. FPL managers could see Ukraine score a few goals but their defence did not look good in the first game.

Most fans will fancy Belgium against an emotionally drained Denmark side after the Eriksen incident. Denmark are in danger of crashing out if they lose this one and without Eriksen, it is difficult to see them causing Belgium too many problems. Romelu Lukaku was brilliant against Russia and he could score one or two in this one also. Thomas Meunier was great after coming on and could trouble the Danish defence. Dedryck Boyata started and offers a cheap defensive option. Meanwhile, Yannick Carrasco should keep his place.

The Netherlands have been the most entertaining team so far in this tournament. Their style of play was rather chaotic but they got the three points in the end. Memphis Depay did not score but remains a good pick. Austria will not be easy to play against as they will sit back and look to hit the Dutch on the counter. If an FPL manager is using their Limitless Chip this round, it might be better to avoid this game.

Day Three- England Take On Noisy Neighbours Scotland

Despite losing against the Czech Republic, Scotland did not look that bad in that game and could have come away with something had they taken their chances. Playing against England should motivate the Scots and they will make it tough for the English. However, Gareth Southgate’s men should be too good for their noisy neighbours. Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, Mason Mount, John Stones and Jordan Pickford are all decent options.

The other two matches on day three look quite tricky to call. Croatia were quite poor in the first game and now need a win badly. Their opponents have already picked up three points and will try to get a draw. It might be a very drab affair.

Sweden vs Slovakia is also not likely to be very entertaining. Sweden will have more urgency to win but it will be tough for them against Slovakia who looked decent in their first game.

Day Four- World Cup Champions France to Face Hungary

It will be all about the world champions on day four as France take on Hungary. Kylian Mbappé, Antoine Griezmann and Karim Benzema are all great options on paper. However, FPL managers have not had the chance to watch them or their opponents Hungary play yet. So, managers should watch both nations first and then decide. If a manager is using a Limitless Chip, three French players should be picked. A defender and Hugo Lloris are also good options but two forwards from France is probably the way to go.

Portugal and Germany are still unknown quantities, still yet to play, but that encounter could be a tight game. Managers should watch these sides closely before deciding on their players.

Spain vs Poland could be an interesting game. Poland did not impress and now need to win to stay alive in the tournament. Lewandowski could not do much but is always a danger. Spain dominated but could not break Sweden down. However, they will also not be satisfied with another draw. Ferran Torres is probably the best option from their attackers. Jordi Alba is a good option also.
