Lucas Vazquez Contract

Real Madrid have confirmed via their official website that they have agreed an extension and new Lucas Vazquez Contract which will keep the player at the club until the end of June 2024.

Three Year Extension to Lucas Vazquez Contract

Versatile Player Earns Three More Years

Vazquez has been at Real Madrid for six years and his versatility in a number of positions has seen him earn a new and improved contract at the Santiago Bernabeu. Other than one season long loan at Espanyol, Vazquez has been a familiar player at Real adapting from right back to wing back and was a player favoured by the recently departed Zinedine Zidane.

2020/21 Season Ended With Injury

In 24 appearances for Los Blancos, Vazquez chipped in with six assists and two goals before a nasty knee injury in April ruined him out for the remainder of the season. He missed some crucial games in what was a disappointing season for Real.

Real finished as runners up in La Liga and we’re knock out of the Champions League at the semi final stage to eventual winners Chelsea and Vazquez was missed in those games.

Vazquez came through the youth teams at Real but had to wait until he was 24 to make his breakthrough in the senior team which came in 2015 and, since then, he has not looked back- going on to make nearly 250 appearances for the club.

With Vazquez’s future now sealed, attention will turn to whether Sergio Ramos will make his free transfer away from the cub that he has served so well for over 15 years. If Ramos does decide to leave, Carlo Ancelotti will have some job on his hands next season. He will be without the club’s biggest leader for the first time in over a decade.
