Sami Khedira to Join Hertha Berlin

Experienced Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira is set to join Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin with personal terms agreed on a contract until 2023, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 33-year-old brings much-needed experience to a struggling Hertha Berlin side who have failed to replicate their form of last season.

His expertise, alongside the likes of Matteo Guendouzi, could prove pivotal as they look to move up into the comforts of mid-table.

Guendouzi to Stay Until End of the Season

With Khedira’s arrival reportedly imminent, Matteo Guendouzi is also set to stay until the end of the season- as reported by Fabrizio Romano. The Frenchman will benefit from Khedira’s arrival as he looks towards the German’s guidance and experience.

As things stand, the Berlin club are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference. Compared to last season, in which they impressed many, they look a completely different side.

Last season, they were quick, clinical underdogs. This season, they have looked flat and lethargic- slipping into a relegation scrap as a result.

The hope will be that by bringing an experienced player in like Sami Khedira; a league winner; a World Cup winner, they’ll avoid the dreaded drop.

Alongside Guendouzi, the German could form a formidable partnership in midfield which could guide Hertha to safety. Games are won and lost in midfield.

At the moment, Hertha are losing out all too often. With Khedira, they could win those crucial midfield battles and, as a result, pick up some key points.

It is some deal to pull off, one has to admit, from a side scrapping for relegation to have the pull to attract a World Cup-winning midfielder. The fact is, should the signing go through, it could be the difference-maker between survival for Hertha Berlin.
