Joshua Zirkzee on Verge of Parma Switch

Dutch U21 international Joshua Zirkzee is on the verge of completing a switch to Italian outfit Parma on loan.

Joshua Zirkzee Closing in on Parma Deal

Parma Await Bayern Munich Youngster

Striker Joshua Zirkzee is closing in on a move to Serie A with Parma from Bayern Münich. According to the Football Journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 19-year-old would originally move on loan. However, if the loan spell proves fruitful, Parma would hold the option to a permanent deal at the end of the season. The fee reported for a longer-term agreement would be €15 million. Reports suggest the deal is close to becoming a reality.

Parma Beat Everton to Striker’s Signature

Premier League Champions League chasers Everton were also in the hunt for the Dutch U21, capped three times for his country. However, as Carlo Ancelotti was known to be an admirer of the youngster, it seems the lure of more opportunities with first-team football in Italy has swayed the deal in the Italian’s favour.

The Promising Career of Joshua Zirkzee

Zirkzee commenced his footballing career in his native Netherlands. He would cultivate his footballing talents at various Dutch youth academies. This included the likes of ADO Den Haag for three years and later moving to Rotterdam with Feyenoord for a season.

In 2017, he was snapped up by Bayern Münich’s academy side. He progressed well in the ranks with six goals in 32 appearances. Therefore, this alerted the first team, who handed him his senior debut on December 11, 2019, against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League.

A week later, he made his Bundesliga bow. It was a debut to remember when, with the scores deadlocked at 1-1 between Bayern and Freiburg, Zirkzee would come off the bench in added time to score just 104 seconds later.

Trophies Galore

Since then, the striker has continued to make his way. To date, he has amassed four goals in 12 games for the German champions. He has already collected silverware in abundance with five trophies, including becoming a Bundesliga and Champions League winner.

This season, he has figured in just three matches. So he will look to continue to develop and hone his skills with Parma.
